230513-14 Weekend in Daylesford
A spur-of-the-moment decision saw us heading for Daylesford for the weekend, in order to catch some of the autumn colour before it all disappears. Daylesford is in the foothills of the Great dividing range of Victoria and is noted for its mineral springs. As a spa-town it attracts many visitors, particularly at the weekend, and this weekend was no exception.
We arrived just in time for lunch courtesy of Daylesford Brewing Co, walking it off with a stroll around Lake Daylesford and a mooch around town before checking into our hotel. A quality dinner courtesy of The Farmers Arms, (mine a Venison Pot Pie the size of my head) a few beers, and it was time for bed. Sunday, we visited the weekly Market, lots of fruit and veg, hats, general knick-knacks and most importantly coffee. The market is held at Daylesford Railway Station, which is now the home of the Daylesford heritage railway, to add a bit more interest to proceedings. From there it was a quick wander around Wombat Hills Botanic Gardens and the Convent Art Gallery. Overall a pleasant weekend of good food lots of walking and a good time.
