Gypsy Hotel January 2014
The first Gypsy Hotel of 2014, and it did not disappoint. Taking residence at a new venue, Phibbers on the Holloway Road. The Music bar is not large, but gives the evening an intimate, friendly feel, and there is enough space in the bar area to kick back and relax if the mood takes you. In true gypsy style this band of roaming troubadours, led by the gypsy-meister that is Paul-Ronney Angel, put on a show like no other. We were entertained by Paul Longhurst before, during and after, with amazing feats of close up, in your face magic that truly left you asking HOW!! Dylan Robert Walshe was the first to take to the stage, and, despite having all his gear nicked a few days earlier, gave a sterling performance despite some distractions (you had to be there, trust me!). Truly a great entertainer and a man to watch in the future. A short break, with DJ Scratchy Sounds spinning some top tunes as always, and it was time for mayhem to rule. This mayhem came in the form of The Original Rabbit Foot Spasm Band. As it says on their website "Raucous and Noisy and Dangerously sexy" - They had the place up and Jumping in no time. A strong performance by them left the crowd happy and smiling and definitely wanting more. The evening was wrapped up (or unwraapped depending on your point of view) by the delicious Miss Miranda performing as only she can. Cheers P-R, Gretchen and everyone involved in putting it on. Roll on next month :)
